Meet CSP and Our Senior Team
CSP aims to provide high quality solutions for all our consulting, civil and structural engineering commissions.
The practice operates its own in-house Quality Management System.
The quality policy of CSP is published in a Quality Policy Manual which declares its commitment to providing professional services, with reasonable skill, care, and diligence, in all areas of civil and structural engineering to meet the client’s requirements.
To promote fulfilment of this commitment, a documented Quality Management system comprising of the Quality Policy Manual and a suite of System Procedures is implemented to manage, monitor and analyse all services and processes undertaken by the Practice in accordance with the requirements of BS5750:Part 1: 1987/EN29001: 1987.
Perry Stewart
Managing DirectorBEng(Hons) CEM MIoD
Perry joined CSP as a director in 2020, bringing a wealth of experience after working in senior management positions in a variety of sectors, including Civil Engineering, property development, building maintenance, building services and marine construction in the UK, Scandinavia, Northern Europe, Australasia, and the USA.
Perry’s success has been through developing and implementing high-level strategies, managing a company’s overall operations and resources, and demonstrating leadership. He sets strategic goals, objectives, budgets, policies, and procedures to enhance market share, profitability and return on investment. Perry is also the company secretary supporting the finances, administration and HR.
Tony East
DirectorIEng AMIStructE
Tony joined the Practice as a Senior Project Engineer in 1988 became an Associate in 1999 and a Director in 2003.
Tony remains involved in project work currently overseeing a wide range of projects including residential, retail, commercial, industrial and stadia but has extensive experience in manufacturing/processing plants, health care facilities and the refurbishment of listed buildings.
Tony is responsible for the Company’s IT system and supports other aspects of the management of the Practice.
Alan Pipe
DirectorIEng AMIStructE
Alan joined the Company as Director in 2003 having previously worked at Associate level for a London based consultants.
Alan is responsible for the delivery of a wide variety of projects throughout all Engineering sectors of varying value throughout the UK.
Alan is the key client liaison for a number of our major projects and repeat Clients.
Alan is responsible for Administration, HR, recruitment and supports other aspects of the management of the Practice.
Colin Pollard
Senior Principal EngineerB.Eng C.Eng P.E. MICE FIStructE
Colin originally worked with CSP in 2005 before moving abroad. Upon his return to the UK in 2016 we were delighted to see Colin re-join CSP as a Senior Principal Engineer.
Colin has vast experience in the design of structures in all sectors. His experience is invaluable, which he passes on, in his role as a mentor, to Graduate Engineers and Technicians.
Colin is responsible for a wide variety of projects and is involved on numerous major projects and with our key clients.
David Clark
ConsultantIEng MICE
David, along with Terry Smith, formed CSP in 1987, following working together as Associates for a major London Consultants, for 15 years.
David has vast experience in all aspects of Civil and Structural Engineering, over all Engineering Sectors both in the UK and abroad and retains engineering hands on approach to projects under his direct control.
Now a Consultant, David maintains close liaison with CSP providing Expert Advice.
Terry Smith
ConsultantBSc (HONS) CEng MIStructE FConsE
Terry, along with David Clark, formed CSP in 1987, following working together as Associates for a major London Consultants, for 15 years.
Terry achieved Chartered Engineer status in 1984 being admitted into The Institution of Structural Engineers and in 1992 was elected as Member of The Association of Consulting Engineers and then elected to Fellow of The Institution of Structural Engineers in 1997.
Terry is now in semi-retirement but remains a valued member of the engineering team and continues to support other aspects of the management of the Practice
Professor RS Narayanan
ConsultantBE(Hons) DIC MSc FREng FIStructE
Professor Nary Narayanan has over 55 years of experience in Consulting Engineering. He has been responsible for variety of projects and is a consultant to CSP. He worked together with David, Terry, and Tony at a major London consultants, where he was a Partner, in the 1980’s.
Has acted as Expert Witness in building litigation and has appraised research proposals submitted to EPSRC.
Nary has served on several BSI committees. He was Chairman of Eurocode 2 (Design of concrete structures and Working Group 2 of BSI Committee responsible for Wind Loading Code. He was visiting Professor at University of Leeds and sat on Advisory Committee of the School of Engineering.
He has lectured extensively on Eurocodes around the World and is the author of many Publications.
He maintains close liaison with CSP providing Expert Advice both internally and externally.
To achieve quality and service objectives, the Practice seeks to adopt a system of prevention rather than cure and of ensuring that staff approach every aspect of work in a professional and efficient manner. The Practice will provide whatever resources are reasonably required (including training and staff development) to implement, maintain and improve the Practice’s systems. This system ensures the following:
- Design solutions are developed in accordance with current best practice
- Design solutions are checked and reviewed throughout the design process by fully qualified and competent members of staff
- The Practice complies with current UK and EC legislation and regulations. Including, all British Standards, Building Regulations, and Codes of Practice
- The Practice complies with legislation specifically related to its business activities
- The Practice continually monitors its quality performance and output implementing improvements when and where appropriate
- The Practice has an in-house technical Library resource that includes Technical Publications, updated Codes of Practice, and design standards, NBS, ACE Appointments/CW’s and product library, information retained as appropriate both in hard copy and digital format. This is controlled by our in-house very experienced and qualified librarian Wendy White.
- The Practice also subscribes to online technical databases and resources.
Our aim is to provide a high quality, value for money service on all our projects since a happy and satisfied client will most likely become a repeat client. With many of our commissions being either repeat business or secured through recommendation, our approach to projects is clearly well received, although we continually strive for improvement.
