CSP were appointed as civil and structural engineers for the design of a new stand and upgrade works for Saracens Rugby Club at the Copthall Stadium athletics facility in Barnet. The works involved the construction of a new spectator stand, which is increased in capacity by the addition of demountable seating during the rugby playing season, new external paving, landscaping modifications and drainage works that included a culvert diversion.
The Stand provides stadium facilities and internal athletic training facilities at ground floor level with offices over and hospitality suites over the two uppermost levels. Full athletics use at the stadium is maintained outside of the rugby season
The construction consists of a raft supported on piles with a steel framed structure incorporating composite floor decks with cellular beams to achieve the services distribution across the floor plates.
